Z308 SEMI-AUTOMATIC DOME GROWTH/DOME REVERSAL GAUGE
The Z308 Semi-Automatic Dome Growth/Dome Reversal Gauge provides detailed information about the overall change in length of the can when pressure is applied and subsequently removed.
Measured Features:
- Dome Growth - The distance which the component expands in length after being subjected to a specified dome growth pressure
- Dome Reversal - The pressure under which the component dome reverses

The Z308 series, Dome Growth/Dome Reversal Gauge from Torus Measurement Systems defines the standard for Destructive Testing and Inspection. The test is used to determine the maximum internal pressure the container can hold before the container fails. The Dome Growth feature provides detailed information about the overall change in length of the can when pressure is applied and subsequently removed.
The operator inserts the correct quick change tooling for the can sample to be inspected (e.g. 211 Body / 202 Neck), then selects the program within “GaugeXplorer” for the appropriate can size. On screen instructions prompt the operator through the process, entering batch and traceability information for future post process analysis if required. Once the part is loaded and the door is closed (ensuring maximum safety for the operator) the automatic measurement sequence will commence.
Firstly, an optional Dome Growth check can be performed, the system has programmable internal pressure capability to meet each customers exact needs. Secondly, the can sample can be “reversed” to find the maximum pressure the sample can withstand before failure (otherwise known as dome reversal). Results may be shown on screen and exported to the customer specific SPC package as required.
