Measured Features at the Trimmed stage are:
- Top Wall Thickness (Average/Range/Max/Min)
- Mid Wall Thickness (Average/Range/Max/Min)
- Mid Wall Upper Thickness (Average/Range/Max/Min)
- Mid Wall Lower Thickness (Average/Range/Max/Min)
- Wall Step (Average/Range/Max/Min)
- Outer Body Diameter (Average/Range/Max/Min)
- Trimmed Can Height (Average/Range/Max/Min)
- Dome Depth (Average/Range/Max/Min)
The Z301 Front End Gauge from Torus Measurement Systems defines the standard for dimensional inspection of Trimmed beverage / beer cans.
Available in semi-automatic (manually loaded), automatic (conveyor loaded) or in-line variants, these machines can be supplied for a single fixed diameter of can, or for facilities producing multiple body diameters. Manual or automatic changeover capability can be specified.
Torus Measurement Systems have been providing the industry standard for trimmed can measurement for over 30 years.
The gauge features fixed top and mid wall probe positions for multi positional radial measurement, with a dedicated caliper to ensure the correct top and mid wall thickness measurement positions every time.
The Z301 Front End Gauge has proven contact measurement technology to minimise influence of oil and dirt on the component. The gauge boasts traceable component correlation studies to ensure machine to machine measurement consistency.
Taking either a manually or automatically loaded trimmed can the system uses contact measurement technology to accurately record the required component features. Can Height, Dome Depth, Top and Mid Wall. The component is automatically rotated to analyse the wall thickness and can height at the stated number of radial positions. This allows for Max /Min/Average and Range calculations to be performed on each component as well as having the option for the measurement batch itself. This data can then be used to control and adjust the manufacturing process, whilst providing the statistical information required for long term system control and improvement.
