TOOLMAKER

Key Tasks

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual Milling machines, Lathes, Jig Borers, Wire Eroders, etc
  • Programming and editing CNC programs
  • Welding and Brazing
  • Use of hand tools, measuring devices, etc, for finishing precision manufactured components
  • Assembly, and final machining of new and existing tools and fixtures, to ensure proper function and conformance to specifications and drawings
  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance to maintain machine performance
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks to provide a safe, clean and orderly workplace
  • Provide guidance and assistance to apprentices and trainees within the toolroom

 

Skills and Experience

  • HNC or equivalent in Engineering
  • Jig and Fixture Toolmaking machining experience, including reading of mechanical engineering drawings, toolroom mathematics and machining practices. Using both CNC and conventional manufacturing equipment
  • Experience of precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers and height gauges)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing/engineering environment
  • Experience working in an agile, fast-paced, environment with the ability to lead and adapt in a changing business environment. 
 

Qualifications

Time served apprentice. Minimum ONC level engineering / City & Guilds Level 3 qualification or equivalent. And / Or proven experience to a similar level.

HOURS Permanent , full time Mon-Fri 39 hrs per week.  
SALARY Negotiable dependent on experience
