RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Torus Measurement Systems Ltd manufacture inspection equipment providing dimensional, visual and destructive testing solutions predominately for the Metal and Plastic Packaging Industries, specifically for Food and Beverage Can / Plastic Bottle Manufacturers. 

Torus Measurement Systems Ltd are recruiting a full-time Research & Development Engineer, responsible for the testing of new technologies and formulation of workable solutions to meet the demands of customer’s measurement requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with research and evaluation of new technologies applicable to Torus’ objectives
  • Identify and report new technologies relevant to current and future developments
  • Conducting testing and producing technical reports presentable internally and externally
  • Conducting short term testing for measurement reports as required by customers
  • Producing scheme and prototype designs using Solidworks
  • Operating within ISO 9001 for the control and conformance of the Design department
  • Assist with the software development team, with an aim to become proficient using Torus’ in-house software language
  • Operating and maintaining 3d printers for test and manufacture
  • Assisting with producing technical documentation for production systems, as and when required.
  • Housekeeping of development areas
  • Maintaining the standard of development administration in regards to the internal Torus IMS system and Torus’ stock control systems
  • Work closely with the design, electrical and software teams in order to deliver solutions in a timely and successful manner
  • Assist with the production team in the testing of standard gauging, as and when required

 

The above tasks will at all times be completed within the framework and procedures of the Torus Quality Management System. 

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and capabilities:

  • Achieved an Engineering qualification, Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent, ideally but not essential in a Mechanically biased course.
  • Be proficient in using the Microsoft Office software Package; mainly Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Have experience in using CAD packages, ideally Solidworks
  • Ideally have experience with software languages. Such as Java, VB C#, C++.
